Sandy began serving as executive director in August of 2015 after serving 18 years as the Chief Executive Officer for the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Pueblo. As the SyCare executive director, she is responsible for providing administrative oversight for the organizations day-to-day operations; and strategic leadership on legislation, policy, project development and contract negotiations. She was recently appointed to the Mental Health Colorado Board of Directors for the Southern and Southeastern Colorado Region and works closely with the Colorado Behavioral Health Council – serving on their Committee on Data Finance & Budget and Legislative and Community Action Committee.
During her 18 years with the Latino Chamber of Commerce, Sandy served on various Boards and Commissions and led the organization in receiving national recognition. In 2008, she received the United States Hispanic Chamber Region II Chamber Executive of the Year award and in 2012 she was recognized by Latina Style Magazine as one of the top Latina Chamber CEO’s in the nation. Prior to working for the Latino Chamber, Sandy worked for Watkins Manufacturing in Vista California from 1986 to 1996 where she served in various accounting, marketing and sales positions completing her tenure as the company’s national Mass Merchant Coordinator.
A native of Pueblo, Sandy is a 1981 graduate of South High School. She attended the University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State University – Pueblo for two years and received her degree in Marketing & Management from Pueblo Community College in 1985.
